HEADLINE: Kai Jones’ rim-shaking dunk catapults Clippers to preseason triumph
Tuesday night in Oceanside, Kai Jones told reporters that he’s simply going to dunk the basketball whenever he gets the opportunity. On Friday in Seattle, he proved he wasn’t lying.
Jones’ dunk with 2.2 seconds left gave the LA Clippers a 101-99 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. The 23-year-old Jones was a beacon of two-way production, stuffing the stat sheet with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 blocks en route to his difference-making night.
It gave the Clippers their second preseason victory, and it helped further establish the good habits that they’ve been trying to preach in this season’s training camp, which has now spanned three different states—Hawaii, California, and Washington.
Up next for the Clippers will be opening their Intuit Dome arena when they welcome the Dallas Mavericks on Monday.
