Defensive belief at forefront for Clippers as season is set to begin
From coaches to players, the Clippers believe the defense is on the right track.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Just how much can you take out of preseason? It’s hard to say. But if you listen to the people in and around the LA Clippers, they believe progress has been made—especially on the defensive end.
“I think the biggest thing is [assistant coach Jeff Van Gundy] has empowered [players] to be super aggressive and they can’t make a mistake as long as they’re playing hard and being aggressive,” assistant coach Brian Shaw told media after practice Wednesday. Shaw was filling in for Tyronn Lue, who left directly after practice because he “had something to do.”
