Clippers overcome 26-point deficit to notch first Intuit Dome win
Lue: "When times are hard, you gotta get tougher."
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Sometimes in life, the longer the wait, the sweeter the reward.
For the LA Clippers, the savory nourishment of home success had evaded them in their first four tries. But, even despite a 26-point first-quarter deficit on Monday night, a fifth was not in store.
Backed by a tenacious bench unit and the right help at the right time, the Clippers notched a 113-104 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, catapulting them to their first home win of the season and giving them a 3-4 record overall.
“It’s a good feeling [to win]. Just been playing good at home, been playing hard, been competing, and to come up short for four games, our guys were pretty disappointed. But I just told them to stick with it, keep playing hard, keep competing like we’ve been doing,” said Clippers coach Tyronn Lue following the win.
“It was good for us to get this monkey off our back, to complete a game and play well for the last three quarters.”
