Good times roll as Clippers muzzle Grizzlies for eighth straight home win
The Clippers are 40-30 on the season.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- An emergency warning system went off inside Intuit Dome roughly 45 minutes before the LA Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies were set to do battle on Friday night. It was a bit of an ominous sign. But no one panicked.
The pitter-patter of 17,927 fans, another sellout, could be heard in the halls, nearly every single one of them there for the various Hello Kitty giveaways the Clippers were furnishing them with.
Maybe the Grizzlies themselves should have paid heed to the warning as the Clippers cruised to a 128-108 triumph over a Memphis team that has now lost four of their last five.
The win moved the Clippers (40-30) to within two in the loss column of the Grizzlies (43-28) as they swept the season series for the first time since 2006-07.
"It may seem seamless,” Clippers acting head coach Brian Shaw of the team’s recent run after incorporating various players back into the fold and experiencing their first fully healthy stretch of the season, before adding, “It doesn’t always seem seamless to us.”
Seamless or not, the Clippers are on a roll. They’ve won eight out of their last nine games since that fateful night in Phoenix that led to Tyronn Lue’s livid postgame spiel following the team blowing a 23-point lead.
